Not impressed at all the oil of the fryer they cook the chips and taco shells in was long overdue to be changed definitely not going back. But the server lady was nice.

Love their birria and menudo! Cannot find anything better! Their carnitas are also very good:) Very authentic, very Mexican, love the atmosphere as well! It's a great place!

This place serves birria, and it's really good. It's better this way than carneceria take out, because it comes with a lovely chile/meaty broth in a bowl. Served with tortillas, onion, cilantro, salsas. So you can make tacos from the tender birria and dip them in the flowery-chile-herb-y broth, or drink it :). I've considered bathing in it, but don't want to get thrown out/arrested, so restrained myself. Really delicious stuff, i kind of think of it as a mexican version of barbeque, just braised instead of smoked. Last time I was there they had cabrito, lamb, beef and pork available. I had the lamb and it was yummy. Kansas City is getting to be a great place to have really fabulous Mexican food. Oh, also the owner/front end manager of this place is really good looking. Even better!

Hubby and I had lunch here and thought it was solid. Nothing fancy, but the food was good. I had chicken fajitas and hubby had the burrito lunch special. I appreciated that the fajitas had a good amount of green peppers and it wasn't mostly onions. Everything seemed made to order which probably made the wait a little longer, but the food tasted very fresh. My lunch fajitas were $7.99 and hubby's lunch was $5.99, so I'd say the prices are reasonable.

Great authentic Mexican food with a lamb specialty. Was featured in the local newspaper for the way the lamb is slow-cooked in a manner to keep it moist. What a delicious combination of Mexican and a type of meat you don't find everywhere. Menu has a full compliment of Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Cabeza, Beef Tongue, Check, Breaded Steak, pork, Shredded Beef, Ham, and seafood. Good weekday lunch specials, a breakfast menu. I had Birra de Chivo. Very good. It is a kind of soup with meat that you use to make your own taco. Give this place a try. You'll be glad you did.

What a place! It's dark but not dirty, out of the way but the food is awesome. I had the lamb barbacoa that was without a doubt one of the tastiest and filling meals I have ever enjoyed. If your version of Mexican food is ground beef and sour cream this is not the place for you. Just off the interstate so it is a great place to stop while on the road.

Solid, little, authentic Mexican joint that specializes in 'birria'. Great goat tacos & horchata. Good for lunch. Credit card machine broken; might be wise to take cash just in case.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
